Amazing Maternity Photoshoot in Farmington CT
What to consider for a Maternity Photoshoot
Pregnancy is a wonderful time in woman’s and family’s life, full of joy, excitement, wonder, anticipation, tenderness, dreams, sometimes fears, sometimes worries, sometimes pain. It’s full of long night conversations about baby’s undoubtable future talents and thrilling future career, multiple trips to home stores in search of ideal colors and the safest furniture for baby’s nursery, full of learning and theorizing foolproof techniques for being perfect parents. No wonder that in the whirlwind of all these emotions, actions and stress, it’s easy forget to stop for a minute, to enjoy your changing body, your loving partner’s touch, your glowing beauty. Maternity photoshoot is a superb way to not only document these moments of amazement, but also to connect to your spouse and to yourself.
In my Maternity Sessions, I don’t try to cram in as many poses as possible, instead I load them with as much affection, emotion, and humor as possible. Because, these are the memories you’d want to hold on to while many others inevitably slip away with time.
Here are a few things to consider for your Maternity photoshoot.
1. Location
Maternity photoshoot can be equally fun and beautiful at a photographer’s studio, a hotel room, a client’s home, a backyard or a city center. But by far the most popular location is a park. Luckily, in Farmington Valley we have quite a few of breathtaking outdoor locations. If doing a maternity photoshoot in Farmington CT, Hillstead museum is certainly on top of my list. Firstly, it boasts beautiful flower garden, stone walls, views. Secondly, it’s never too busy, so the couples never feel that their privacy is invaded. Thirdly, the photography fee that the museum charges, helps this Farmington gem prosper.
2. Outfits
There is no one right answer what’s the best outfit for a maternity photoshoot. A long gown in solid color is a popular choice. But it doesn’t always have to be that. It depends on the person’s style and body type. A shorter bodycon dress, or jeans and boots, or a black bodysuit for a studio session, or a gorgeous off-shoulder evening dress are all valid options. It really depends on your preferences! If you can have two different style outfits for your maternity photoshoot, it’s even better! This stunning mama decided to go with two different outfits – a shorter fun dress and a more sophisticated cocktail gown, and she nailed it!
3. Timing
Waiting till last minute with maternity photoshoot, I usually not the best idea. The optimal timing is 30-35 weeks. Doing it earlier – the woman may not even show that much. Doing later – can be tiring for the woman, or even too late (some babies decide to disregard their parents’ wishes and make their appearance pretty early).
4. Props
Of course, you don’t have to use props for a maternity photoshoot. But why not? Cute baby shoes, an ultrasound image, a onesie, a board with a witty writing. It doesn’t have to excessive, but a little something goes a long way 🙂
5. Relax
A maternity photoshoot is not about scoring the highest number of poses. It’s more about capturing moments of amazement, of pure love for the baby and for each other that fills future parents, of inside jokes and of overwhelming affection. All you need to do is come and have fun. I will take care of the rest 😉
