Home Newborn Photography Session/ West Hartford CT
Sara contacted me about a newborn photoshoot for her newly arrived bundle of joy when the baby was already 2 weeks old. While the best time for a newborn session is within the first 10-14 days (this is when the babies are still super sleepy, super flexible, and super squishy), it doesn’t mean that you can’t get cute posed shots with older babies. True, you may not be able to get a baby into a super curly pose, but it’s not necessarily my thing either. While I do pose newborns, most of my poses are more relaxed and natural looking. Anyways, where were we? Ah, yes, an older newborn. It so happened that for various reasons, we were not able to get the photoshoot done till little Daria was one month old. But she did a phenomenal job posing 🙂
The photoshoot took place at Sara’s house. A newly bought home, it was well lit and beautifully decorated, its walls just starting to absorb the love and affection of the family. Since the new parents didn’t have to rush to get to the studio on time, they felt relaxed and at home, really. With COVID-19 going around, more and more parents opt for in-home newborn photography. And I am willing to accommodate if this is what makes the family feel safer and at ease.
With so much going on when one is expecting, with possible pregnancy complications, or other challenges that maternity poses, it’s easy to forget, to miss the window for the newborn photoshoot. But don’t let it discourage you! Even with older newborns, you can still get cute newborn pictures that you would treasure forever. And trust me, there is so much to be treasured about them: the pure love, the innocence, the tiny toes and fingers, the flaking skin, the adorable yawns and uncontrolled smiles, your tenderness, your affection, your marvel over this new life, and so much more!
The best time to preserve your memories, is now.
