Two Months of Cuteness: A Farmington OLDER Newborn Photoshoot!
As a CT newborn photographer, I often get asked, “Is my baby too old for newborn pictures?” The truth is, the perfect timing for capturing those precious first moments can vary! While the classic curled-up, deeply-sleeping poses are adorable, there are many reasons why waiting a few weeks, like we did for this delightful 2-month-old, can lead to a truly special older newborn photoshoot experience.
Here’s why a slightly older newborn photoshoot can be fantastic for some families:
Happy and Healthy Parents:
Let’s be honest, those first few weeks with a newborn are a whirlwind! Waiting a month or so allows new parents some much-needed time to adjust and feel more comfortable in front of the camera when it’s time for their older newborn photoshoot.
Less Fussy Tummies:
Many newborns experience a gassy phase around 3-4 weeks. Waiting until they’ve settled into a regular feeding routine can make for a smoother and happier photoshoot for everyone. Doing an older newborn photoshoot may be quite a benefit for those colicky babies.
Social Smiles!
Around 2 months, babies start to develop more social smiles. Capturing those genuine grins and bright eyes creates a whole new level of heartwarming photos.
More Awake Time:
While we still cherish those peaceful sleeping moments, a slightly older baby offers the opportunity for some playful interactions and awake portraits that showcase their developing personality.
Ultimately, the “best” time for your CT newborn photoshoot is whenever feels right for your family. Sometimes, people consciously wait a few weeks to do their sessions, others just decide later down the line that they want to capture those fleeting moments. But, in any case, don’t rid yourself of these precious memories just because you’ve read somewhere that it’s too late! Whether you’re in Farmington, Plainville, Avon, West Hartford, or anywhere else in Connecticut, I’m here to capture the love and wonder of this special stage, no matter how old your little one is.
8 weeks old baby Selene
This peanut might be a couple months past the typical newborn stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t capture all the preciousness in a posed newborn photoshoot! As a Connecticut newborn photographer, I get to witness all sorts of adorable newborn stages – from a couple days old to almost three months old, and this little cutie-pie brought the charm.
While those sleepy, curled-up poses might be a bit trickier at this age, we still managed some snuggly moments wrapped in cozy blankets. But the real magic happened when those big, bright eyes opened wide and took in the world! Her interactions with her parents and big brother were pure love, and we captured some beautiful family portraits that showcase the joy of these early months.
At this age, babies are starting to show more personality, and this little cupcake was full of it! We got some awake shots with her gazing curiously at the camera, and even a few sleepy smiles (thanks, warm studio!). While swaddling poses might be a bit trickier with an older newborn, we still captured some cozy moments with blankets and soft textures.
From capturing those fleeting moments of baby Selene nestling in mom’s embrace to the adorable yawns and tiny smiles, every click of my camera felt like freezing time itself. It’s moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with being a Farmington newborn photographer in the first place – the ability to encapsulate the pure essence of new life and eternalize it through my lens.
Thank you to baby Selene and her loving family for allowing me to be part of this beautiful journey. I cannot wait to share more of these precious memories with you all soon! 🌿📷💛
Even though the “ideal” newborn window is often considered the first two weeks, there’s so much beauty in every stage. Thinking about a CT newborn photoshoot for your older newborn? Don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m here to capture the love and wonder of this special time, no matter how tiny (or not-so-tiny!) your little one might be.
